Staying at Westerbeke Ranch

We’re delighted that you are joining us for a retreat at Westerbeke Ranch.  As the name implies, this venue is not a hotel, and as such there are some things that differ from a hotel experience.

Before you pack your bags, please read through the information below and send any questions or concerns to hello@leadersintech.org.

Sleeping Rooms

Westerbeke has 5 cabins, each of which has 3-5 rooms. The cabins are charming and a bit rustic; please note that some sound travels between rooms. You will be sharing a room with one other participant.

Here’s what you can expect in each room:

  • 2-4 beds (various combinations of twin and double)

  • 1 bathroom with sink, shower and toilet

  • Hand soap and shower gel

  • Plenty of towels

  • A wall heating unit

  • Ceiling fan

  • Extra fan

Some of the things you might expect from a hotel that are not provided in the cabins/rooms:

  • Toiletries - please bring anything you need other than hand soap and shower gel.  If a need comes up, there are some toiletries for sale in the gift shop.

  • Hairdryer

  • Air conditioning

Recommended Packing List

  • Bathing suit, other swimming accessories

  • Workout clothes if you like to walk or run

  • Ear plugs if you are a light sleeper

  • Sleep mask if you are sensitive to light

  • Comfortable clothes for sitting during the day (athleisure encouraged!)

  • Light layers for eating or socializing outside

  • Hat and/or sunscreen if you like to eat in the sunshine (meetings will be indoors)

  • Hairdryer

  • Toiletries (hand soap and shower gel provided)

Mosquitos

Our previous stay was preceded by wet weather, and so we experienced quite a few mosquitos.  Because summers are very dry in Sonoma, we are unlikely to experience so many mosquitos again, but we wanted you to be prepared for the possibility!

What we’re doing:

  • All doors and windows in the cabins are screened, which proved very effective during our previous stay.  No one had trouble with mosquitos inside the cabins/rooms.

  • The outside eating area has two spaces, one of which can be closed off with netting.  There are also spaces to eat inside.

  • The meeting rooms all have air conditioning and fans, so all doors can be closed.

  • Non toxic bug spray will be available in all meeting rooms, as well as the dining areas.

  • We have purchased several of these Wirecutter recommended Thermocell Patio Shields, which are effective for creating a mosquito free area of about 15 feet.  They are flame free and non-toxic! We have enough to cover all the meeting spaces, and they are easy to move around as we need.

If you are sensitive to mosquitos, we recommend that you bring your favorite method(s) of protection.

If you have any questions about what to bring or how to prepare for the retreat, please reach out to our Operations team at hello@leadersintech.org.
